RELIEF FOR TRIBES

​

Commerce announces $5 million emergency response grant for tribes: The Washington State Department of Commerce announced $5 million in emergency grants is now available to the 29 federally recognized tribes in the state to bolster their response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

​

Each tribal government will receive an immediate grant of $100,000, with the remaining $2.1 million distributed based on a formula currently under development between Commerce and tribal leaders.

​

Recommended steps to request assistance for any primary needs (housing, food, utilities, financial assistance etc.):

 

Step 1. Call 2-1-1 or 1-800-223-8145. We are aware it can take a while to get assistance, but please start here as this system is centralized and folks are fully trained and ready to support you.
 

Step 2. Apply for federal and state resources if you are eligible.

Step 4. Reach out to local community based organizations. The funds of these ones are very limited which is why I am listing them last.

- Mutual Aid Solidarity Network. If you would like food or other supplies dropped off at your front door, please use this form. They are prioritizing folks who are sick, disabled, quarantined without pay, elderly, undocumented, queer, Black, Indigenous, and/or people of color - including those displaced from Seattle to the nearby areas. - Snohomish County COVID19 Mutual Aid Group is a grass roots group supporting vulnerable communities during the COVID19 crisis: immigrant and refugee communities, the elderly, communities of color, indigenous, LGBTQ+, low-income, under-employed, or unemployed, living with disabilities/compromised immune systems, families of incarcerated or detained folks, and any other marginalized groups. For more information contact: covid19mutualaid@gmail.com. This group is providing assistance with: groceries, supplies, and/or medicines

delivery, finding Snohomish County, Washington state, and federal resources, conducting phone check-ins and outreach in special cases, mental and emotional health support and housing referrals.

This response fund is intended to augment local capacity by responding to the essential needs of those severely impacted by the virus.

 

In order of priority, recipients of assistance will be residents of Snohomish County including one of the following:

  • People at risk of isolation, especially lower-incomeelders.

  • People who are out of work because of the COVID-19virus.

  • Black, Indigenous, and people ofcolor.

  • People with disabilities and people who areimmunosuppressed.

 

 

The following small community based organizations have received very limited amounts of funding to support communities of color. See contact information below and prioritized communities. Each organization determines application process and distribution of funds:

  • Port of Seattle Webinars for All Small Businesses: The Port of Seattle is taking extra steps to help its small business partners understand and access resources being distributed as part of the Federal CARES Act.
